Kontroltek building up to 50 face shields per day for those who need them

Bridgend workshop is using its spare time and 3D printer to help with PPE shortage
To help tackle the PPE shortage for NHS staff and other workers, the Kontroltek engineering team are utilising their 3D printer to produce up to 50 face shields per day.
COVID-19 has disrupted daily life for many, but those who are still working are putting their lives at risk. Kontroltek would like to provide as many face shields as possible to those who need them.
Kontroltek has already provided a hospital in Bridgend with face shields, as well as sending samples for testing to a hospital in Neath Port Talbot.
Andrew Follant, the Managing Director of Kontroltek, has said “We’re very lucky and privileged that not only can we help, but we can do it safely. Many of these workers we want to help go to work every day, knowing they’re at risk.”
“Many of our customers have temporarily shut down. We’re still open because other customers work in critical industries, but being able to help produce these face shields too, makes me immensely proud.”
Kontroltek is appealing to others that can help supply acetate sheet for more printing, to reach the company’s maximum capacity of producing 50 face shields per day.
